Nuh and the Ark
A prophet who called his people for 950 years, then built a ship in dry land while everyone laughed at him.

A very long call
Nuh (peace be upon him) stayed among his people calling them to worship God alone for a thousand years minus fifty. He called them by night and by day, privately and openly — and only a few believed with him.
Build the ship
God commanded him to build the ark, so he began building an enormous ship far from any water. Every time his people passed by they mocked him — a ship, on dry land!
Aboard
Then the command came: carry aboard a pair of every kind, your family, and those who believed. As they boarded, Nuh said: “In the name of Allah is its sailing and its anchoring.”
Safe
Water burst from the earth, rain came down, and the ship sailed through waves like mountains. Everyone aboard was saved, and the ark finally came to rest upon Mount Judi.
From the Qur’an
And build the ship under Our eyes and by Our revelation, and do not address Me concerning those who have wronged — they are to be drowned.
And he said: “Board it. In the name of Allah is its course and its anchorage. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful.”
The lesson
Do what God asks of you even if people laugh. Nuh built a ship in the desert — and he was the one who was saved.
